Do you have a pantry, or cabinets you use to store your dry goods and non-perishables? It may seem like a personal question, but…What’s in your pantry inventory?

I’ve spent the last few weeks stockpiling my family’s personal care items, but it’s time to turn my attention to our pantry, fridge & freezer and finding ways to “cook out the stockpile” during the slim pay periods.

Having the basic essentials on hand can make meal planning, even spontaneous cookie making, a lot easier. The thing is, each of us has preferences, and my essentials might not be yours. Below is a basic Pantry inventory, plus I’ve added a list for the fridge and freezer. Continue reading »

$10 Stockpile - Part 2 of Week 10This week I again ended up splitting my $10 Stockpile posts into Part 1 and Part 2. I was so excited about my 93% Walgreens savings scenario that I posted part 1 earlier this week. Meijer was running a “Buy 10 for $10 get an 11th Item Free” sale that ended Wednesday, but I managed to get over there in time.

I found the list of items included on JillCataldo.com, along with this reminder…

Remember that with this sale, the 11th item that is scanned at the checkout lane IS your free item, and Meijer does not typically allow a coupon to be used on a free item. So, make sure that your 11th item scanned is a NON-coupon item, like produce or a store-brand item.

Here is how I did this transaction…
Old Orchard Juice (frozen concentrate) was part of this sale. Normally these retail anywhere from $1.25 to $1.75, and not every flavor was tagged for $1.00. I had to register for the $1/4 Old Orchard Frozen Juice Concentrate printable coupon but was able to print it out twice. So, I got 8 of these for $6.00.

Hunts Ketchup was also on sale. I just happened to have a $0.35/1 coupon that I had cut out of the inside of a Banquet frozen dinner package. (One of the places I wrote about in my post “7 Places to Find Coupons Offline“) We needed Ketchup, so I got one to use and one for stockup. Retail price on Hunts 24oz. Ketchup is normally $1.59, I bought 2 for $1.65.

For my 11th free item, I bought a 1 lb. “chub” of Meijer Ground Turkey. Yes, I could have just bought 11 of these and really stockpiled at this great price, but we aren’t huge ground turkey users, and besides I didn’t have any coupons for this. It normally retails for $1.59, which isn’t bad, but free is even better!

All in all, instead of paying $16.85, I got the 11 items for $7.65. With the sale prices, my coupons, and the 11th item for free, I saved 55%. And adding part 1′s total of $3.21 to part 2′s total – I came out a little over at $10.86 (not including tax). Though technically, the Old Orchard juices were the stockpiling part of my Meijer trip. ;)

What kinds of things are you stockpiling?

$10 Stockpile - Week 10 Part 1 Okay, I know I said I was going to focus on food this week, but I found a shopping scenario at WildForWags.com that got me excited to try it myself. I had a bunch of Register Rewards left over from last week’s trips and wanted to create my own scenario using them. I’m pretty proud of the savings I accomplished using manufacturer coupons, matched with the store sale prices and redeeming RRs toward my out of pocket expense.

Transaction #1, I bought…
1 Wal-Fex 24 Hour Allergy Relief 5ct. $3.99**
1 Colgate 360 Toothbrush $2.99
2 Butterfinger candybars $.39 ea. so 2 for $.78
1 Bayer Advanced Pain Reliever 20-24ct. $3.00
Before Coupons (BC) Total = $10.76
1 -$1/1 any Colgate 360 Toothbrush – from May issue All You Magazine
1 -$2/1 Bayer Advanced from the 6/12 SS insert
1 -$5 RR from P&G last week
1 -$1 RR from Reach last week
OOP Total = $1.76 (Got Back $4 RR From Wal-Fex, $2 RR from Colgate)
**On this transaction I could have used a $1/1 Wal-Fex 24 Hour, Any Walgreens Allergy Booklet found in pharmacy (code #2092), but A. I couldn’t find the booklet, and B. my cashier (my nickname for her is Nervous Nelly) was freaked out enough about my telling her I had 3 transactions, so I didn’t push it.

Transaction #2, I bought…
2 Finesse Clean + Simple 2/$7
1 Blistex RPM for Men Lip Care $2.00
2 Chewy Sprees pks. $.39 ea. so 2 for $.78
BC Total = $9.78
2 -$1/1 any Finesse Product from May issue All You Magazine
1 -$3 RR from Reach last week
1 -$3 RR from Reach last week
1 -$.99 RR from Sobe last week
OOP Total = $0.79, (Got Back $5 RR from Finesse, $2 RR from Blistex)

Transaction #3, I bought
1 Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor System $9.89
2 Lysol toiletbowl cleaner BOGO 2.99 w/ in-ad Q
2 Chewy SweetTart pks, $.39 ea. so 2 for $.78
BC Total = $13.66
1 -$4/1 Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor from the 6/5 P&G insert (exp. 7/31)
1 -$1/2 from the 6/12 SS insert (exp. 7/24)
1 -$5 RR Finesse from Transaction #2 above
1 -$3 RR from Reach last week
OOP Total = $0.66 (Got back $5 RR from Gillette/P&G)

So…today recap is
Before coupons & Store savings = 48.18
Total RR Savings = $21.99
Coupon & Wags sale price savings = 22.98
Total OOP (not including taxes) = $3.21 for a total of 93% savings!

That leaves me $6.79 still this week to use towards my $10.00 stockpile!

Update 6/17/11 – I posted Part 2 of this week’s $10 stockpile today!

Here’s to my best shop yet!
