It’s no secret that I have been trying really hard to get into couponing, and one of my goals for 2011 is to be a lot more organized in my couponing and grocery shopping efforts. Because I jumped into this in the middle of this year, I was not aware that there was a coupon insert schedule. I have seen tweets each week by deal bloggers who have the upcoming Sunday’s coupon previews, and always wondered how they knew. Well, I think I found their source… SundayCouponPreview.com.
I subscribed to their RSS feed not too long ago, and this morning I was excited to find their latest post “2011 Sunday Coupon Insert Schedule“. I’ve already printed it out, and plan to add it to the front of my notebook. (Part of my new plan for coupon organization – more on that later)
Here are some highlights…
- Generally there are no coupon inserts in Sunday papers that fall on a holiday weekend like Valentine’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, etc. Coupons for those occasions have been out for awhile beforehand, and I guess they figure no one is going to shop the week after a holiday – just kidding. Exception! There are a ton of coupon inserts in the January 2nd Sunday paper!
- Proctor & Gamble (P&G) puts out a monthly coupon insert. Most recently I’ve found it either at the end of the month, or on the first Sunday of the month. The 2011 coupon insert schedule has it towards the middle of the month in Jan. & Feb., then moving to the first Sunday in March, with it coming out then every 3-4 weeks.
- I’ve noticed that General Mills (GM) has its own occasional coupon insert. We can find the next one in the Jan. 2nd Sunday paper, then again Feb. 20th, but after that I don’t see one on the schedule for the rest of 2011? That may be subject to change.
- Just about every Sunday there are RedPlum (RP) & SmartSource (SS) coupon inserts, sometimes 2! Then over the summer months it looks like there’s one Sunday per month where you’ll get no RP insert, just SS.
That is a quick summarization of SundayCouponPreview.com’s 2011 Coupon Insert Schedule, and from the site here is January’s preview…
January
2— (2) Smart Source (2) Red Plum and General Mills
9— Smart Source and Red Plum
16 — Smart Source, Red Plum and Proctor & Gamble
23 — Smart Source and Red Plum
30 — Smart Source and Red Plum
Subscribe to their RSS feed though to get news for each post they put out that previews the upcoming week’s specific coupon inserts. They break it down ahead of time, giving us a chance to plot out our lists, or how many Sunday’s papers to buy for the coming week.
Hope you find this resource helpful!

It will be interesting to watch you do this. I know my personality well enough to know I’d struggle and give up. I do shop the ads, I just don’t do well with the clipped coupons making it to the store before they expire. lol
Good luck!
Thanks Val! I got all sorts of coupon organizing stuff for Christmas too, so I’m psyched to make the most out of it. When I can get in the list building, coupon matching mode I’ve been able to save us up to 50% – so it’s a very good thing!
I’ve got ideas for the New Year on how to stay on top of coupons, to maximize their use. So stay tuned!
